For Träpriset 2012, we are now looking for new Swedish buildings, in which wood plays a significant role. All sorts of constructions can participate in the competition: bridges, multi storey houses and public buildings are as welcome as private homes, weekend cottages and open-air dance-floors. The last date for sending in structures to the Träpriset 2012 award is February the 15th, 2011.
All structures that are sent in will be inspected by each member of the jury separately. Thereafter the jury will decide which 25-30 structures will be visited. After this inspection approximately 10 structures will be photographed and presented in the paper Träinformation (Timber Information), in the book Swedish Architecture in Wood – The Timber Prize, in a travelling exhibition, and at the prize ceremony of Träpriset 2012.
Träpriset - The Timber Prize
Träpriset - The Timber Prize - is an architectural prize instituted by the Swedish Forest Industries Federation (Skogsindustrierna). Presented every
fourth year, the prize is awarded for exemplary Swedish architecture which
makes use of wood and captures the essence of our time. The winner of Träpriset 2012 will be the eleventh Träpris recipient, and receives, apart from the honour, also a golden wood horse and a sum of 100 000 SEK (approximately 10 000 Euros). Furthermore, the nominated structures will be published in the book Swedish Architecture in Wood – The Timber Prize.
