Carina Håkansson elected FAO-ACFSI Chairperson

Carina Håkansson, Director General of Swedish Forest Industries Federation, has been elected Chairperson of ACSFI, an advisory body for FAO's work on sustainable forestry.

What questions are relevant in ACFSI?

- The world needs more forest to support sustainable development in accordance with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and to mitigate climate change. FAO has a strong commitment and many activities to drive and support this development.

What do you hope to achieve in the role of chairperson?

- The most important thing is to develop and strengthen the cooperation between the FAO forest section and the countries that are members of ACSFI.

Why do you participate in this international work?

- The forest industry is global, the climate issue as well, so being involved and spreading and developing the role of forests as an enabler for sustainable development is important.
