Since 14th of September, Mrs. Viveka Beckeman is the Director General for the Swedish Forest Industries Federation. She was most recently Senior Vice President and Head of Legal Affairs and Real Estate at Sveaskog.
Sveaskog is a state-owned company, owning 14 percent of the forest land in Sweden. Sveaskog sells timber, pulpwood, biofuel, seedlings and forest management services.
– The forest sector is a key player in the transformation to a circular bioeconomy and is an important enabler for Europe to prosper while addressing climate change and reaching climate neutrality. It is therefore with enormous pride that I assume the role of representing the Swedish Forest Industries, says Viveka Beckeman.
Viveka Beckeman is based in Stockholm. The EU policy arena is however of vital importance to the Swedish forest industry, which is reflected in the Federation's opening of a Brussels office in 2019. The office is headed by Anna Holmberg.
– It has been a very rewarding first year, but also challenging considering the Corona pandemic impacts on EU policy making. Our work in Brussels continues, at full strength and with a strong focus on the European Green Deal. I look forward to introducing Viveka Beckeman to a wide network of stakeholders in Brussels, adds Anna Holmberg.
