The Swedish Forest Industries Federation (SFIF) welcomes the EU Parliament’s approval of the proposed Nature Restoration Law, which incorporated several important improvements, including deletion the non-deterioration requirement in particular.

SFIF welcomes the vote to approve the proposed draft of the law, since it includes substantial amendments to minimise negative impacts of the plans on other policy areas, in particular forestry and bioeconomy.

SFIF maintains its previously stated position of welcoming the law’s stated aim of restoring damaged ecosystems and see this as an important step towards a more functional legislation.

SFIF calls for a constructive trialogue to take into account concerns voiced throughout the policy process, in particular from Member States that are set to face the most acute negative impacts from the legislation.
