Want to fill your tank with eco-labelled diesel made from wood? Then you’d better head to Sweden and stop at the nearest Preem petrol station.

In order to reduce carbon emissions from traffic, we need to invest in renewable electricity and biofuels. Using side streams from pulp production, we can make green biofuel from a renewable source. Residues from the forest industry are also used to generate bio-based electricity and heat.

Carbon-fiber for cars

Going forward, we can also replace finite material used in car chassis with carbon-fibre from wood. Indeed, several exciting research projects to replace traditional, heavier material with a light-weight composite are ongoing, in which wood is one of the components.
