BioInnovation is a research and innovation programme for sustainable development with the vision that Sweden will have made the conversion into a circular bioeconomy in 2050. A bioeconomy means a society based on renewable biological resources.

The initiative is funded by the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems, the Swedish Energy Agency and the Swedish Research Council Formas, as well as participating organisations from industry, academia and the public sector. The aim is to increase the value creation and competitiveness of the Swedish bio-based sector by creating the best possible conditions to produce new bio-based materials, products and services.
